Concrete Repair and Structural Restoration in Boulder
Boulder puts a specific set of problems in front of a concrete contractor: freeze-thaw at altitude, a lot of campus and civic building stock from the middle of the last century, and structures that have to stay open while they are repaired.
The CU Boulder Armory Stack
Post-tension strengthening at the CU Boulder Armory Stack is in our gallery, before and after. Post-tension work on a building of that age is exactly the kind of job that calls for someone certified to do it, because the systems used then are not the systems used now, and the repair methods do not transfer between them.
Buildings from the button-head era
If a building went up between the 1950s and the 1970s, its post-tensioning may well be a button-head system rather than the monostrand used today: bundles of individual wires with formed heads seated against an anchor plate. They fail differently, they are repaired differently, and far fewer contractors will touch them. ORC repairs and replaces button-head cable.
What we do in Boulder
Structural concrete repair, certified post-tension repair, carbon fiber strengthening, epoxy and grout injection, expansion joints, waterproofing and coatings, and sealants. Boulder is a short run from our shop in Lakewood, so a site visit is not a production.

ORC’s owner and members of our crew have been certified through the Post-Tensioning Institute for more than 25 years, which is longer than ORC has been in business. Members of our crew are certified at Level 1 and Level 2. Level 2 is the higher of the two, and certain jobs require a Level 2 certified employee on site. We are also members of the International Concrete Repair Institute.
